Platinum Jubilee Celebration of MGR in Cinema from 1936 to 2010 was held in grand manner in Chennai on 29.8.2010, the function was held on behalf of all MGR Fans Association and Urimaikural MGR Magazine.
The function started by 2 pm and ended at 10.15 pm. MGR Fans from all over Tamil Nadu, Pondichery, Karnataka, Malaysia and Singapore participated in the function.

By 2 pm MGR Photo exhibition was inaugurated by Producer Rajan, from 3 pm to 6 pm MGR Songs Dance programmed was performed by Cini Abhinayam and from 6.30 pm to 10.15 pm MGR Songs were played by Selva's Sivaranjini. In the Function Special Edition Book (Pavala Vizha Malar) was released by Veteran Actor S.S.Rajendran and the first issue was received by Director Saroj Kumar.
The Chief Guests are Actor S.S.Rajendran, Director Saroj Kumar, Music Director Sankar Ganesh, Producer K.Rajan, Child Artist from the Film Thirudathae Lakhsmi and Devi, Industralist Antony.

Periyavar M.G.Chakrapani’s 24th Death Anniversary

Today is the 24th death Anniversary of thiru M.G.Chakrapani elder brother of Makkal Thilagam M.G.R. M.G.C and Periyavar as he was fondly called by close associates was a great character actor,producer,and director.His role in Malaikkallan, Ali baba ,Mahamaya were unforgettable .Today we pay homage to him and remember his exemplary service to the film industry.Let us salute this great human being who was a simple man with humility and who was respected as Periyavar by the entire film fraternity.

AIADMK flag designer Mr.Angamuthu Passes Away

Veteran Art Director Angamuthu who was a prominent technician in many of the MGR films passed away today August 3 in Chennai. He was 81. He is survived by two sons and five daughters. All the daughters are married.  One of his sons Shanmugam is serving as an art director and also as the treasurer of FEFSI.

AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa paid floral tributes to the late party functionary and consoled the members of Angamuthu’s family.

Angamuthu, who had served as the Member of the Tamil NaduLegislative The body was kept at his Nungambakkam residence for public homage. The funeral would take place today.
A staunch MGR loyalist, Angamuthu was one of the founding members of the AIADMK, when MGR floated the Party in the early 70s and had designed the party flag. He had also served as the Madras District President of the AIADMK.
He had worked as art director in more than 250 films. His popular films included MGR blockbluster ''Ulagum Sutrum Vaaliban'' in 1975 and ''Avan Pithana'' and ''Thanga Thambi'', in which eminent writer and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi had penned the dialogues.

Angamuthu was also a film producer and have produced more than 10 films. He was also one of the founding members of FEFSI.

Angamuthu was instrumental in getting recognition for the Art directors, by founding the Art Directors Association and had served as its President for more than 15 years.
Giving the employees of the film fraternity a recognition, Angamuthu was also the founder of the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) and served as its Treasurer.
